Birthday

Jason and I went to Dallas a couple weekends ago to visit my family. My grandma, aunt and uncle from Houston came in town, too.

Since it was my birthday week, we celebrated with cake and presents! My sister made a fancy strawberry cake with huge strawberries on top...

...although she had a hard time cutting the cake...haha!

It was really nice spending time with my family again. The girls had a good time shopping – as usual! Too bad Jason and I flew in, so I wasn't able to take some of my "It's My Birthday Week" purchases back home. I don't think the airlines or the other passengers on the plane would like it if I carried on two lamps and a new bathroom light fixture. But now that means it'll feel like Christmas next time we visit!

I thought this picture turned out good:

This one – not so much...haha!

Nice face flex, David! I think Jason has always been scared – yet uncomfortably intrigued – by my sister and me! Maybe that's good...we keep him on his toes!

Obsessed

I didn't watch Lost while it was on TV; it was never appealing to me. I kind of wish I had watched it while it was all the rage, but that's ok. I'm watching it now! I started a few weeks ago, and one benefit to not watching it on TV is that I can go at my own pace and not have to wait a week for the next episode. I don't know if I could wait a week for the next episode. It's addicting!

When I watched the pilot episode of Lost, I told Jason, "You have to watch this! It's crazy!" I was eating my lunch while I watched. After part 1 of the pilot, I realized I had hardly eaten anything. I was so tense and into what was happening, I had forgotten to eat! I told Jason to watch the first episode so he could catch up and we could watch the rest of the show together. He said, "No, I probably won't be able to keep up. You just go ahead and watch without me." So I did. A few days later when I asked him if he had watched the first episode yet, he was already way ahead of me! Now he's on season 3 and I'm still on season 1. Yeah, you couldn't keep up, huh??

The show is pretty amazing so far. We're kind of obsessed–definitely Jason more so than me. Who knew?!?

July

We're already two days into July, so that means it's officially birthday month!

I came up with a song the other day for Jason to help him with ideas of what to get me for my birthday. It was to the tune of "The Twelve Days of Christmas" except it was titled "The Twelve Days of Birthday Month." Too bad when I was singing/saying it (I think I'm somewhat tone deaf and can't hold a tune to save my life), I stumbled over and forgot some of the words... Oh well, I think he got the idea. I only asked for things like 12 new car options, 10 weeks in Europe, 5 diamond rings, etc. That's not too much to ask for, is it??

This weekend our good friends Jay and Kylee are staying with us. We are celebrating the 4th with them and Jay's family. Our tradition is to go to the ranch in Perryton for the 4th, but it didn't work out this year. Instead, we'll stay here. Although I'm sure we'll bring some of the ranch traditions home this year–like the good food: brisket, cheesy potato casserole and ice cream cake. Yum!

Have a great 4th of July!
